The Oak Park Public Library serves a culturally and racially diverse west suburban Chicago population with a staff of about 100 professional and para-professional workers. We share our resources with a consortium of 78 other public libraries in the Chicago Metropolitan area. The West side of Chicago figures prominently in our service area demographics.
As part of its core mission of engagement, learning, and stewardship, the Oak Park Public Library seeks to provide exceptional library experiences for our diverse community of patrons. By turning outward toward that community, we lead an ongoing dialogue with our patrons and neighbors to learn their aspirations. The library is intentional about the choices we make about programming based on what we learn the community wants and needs.
